Following the basic Sitemap, I layout the major sections and their subsections in a combination of top and side bars. Every project would have a fixed set of sections where different tasks are performed.
Followed z-pattern to guide users attention to information in a more natural sequence.
Always have a way back
Make use Help Screens when unexpected results occur, offer an explanation and a way to navigate to a safer place.
Desktop-first application
If the screen becomes too narrow to show both panels then instruct the user to widen the window.
Display panels when you need them…
Make use of panels when editing and configuring the content. toggle panels on and off ⌘;
…and hide them when you don’t.
Clear panels when you don’t need them, let the content take the center stage. Toggle panels on and off ⌘;
